Plain truths
To end AIDS, we must confront the real barriers standing in the way. These plain truths highlight why our mission matters and what we’re working to change.
Barriers to care
Quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege, yet countless people—including young people, the LGBTQ+ community, and people who use drugs—face significant barriers to accessing the care they need. From limited healthcare resources to geographic isolation and financial constraints, these barriers can delay or prevent care, leaving those most vulnerable without essential services.
Stigma & "Othering"
Stigma and “othering” fuel unfair treatment toward people living with or at risk of HIV due to factors like race, sexuality, gender, or health status. This is especially true for the LGBTQ+ community. When people are pushed to the edges of society, they are often left out of healthcare, jobs, housing, and support. This limits access to support and reinforces harmful narratives.
Legislative Threats
An end to AIDS is often blocked by changing laws and policies that limit access to healthcare, education, and rights—especially for LGBTQ+ communities and people who use drugs. In some regions, legislations target these vulnerable groups, reducing essential funding, or even criminalizing identities and behaviors.
Fearless commitment
No one should face stigma, fear, or be denied access to life-saving treatment—everyone has the right to a healthy life. From the United States to Uzbekistan to Uganda, we are connecting marginalized communities with the vital care and resources they need to live long and healthy lives.
