Changing the Course of HIV in EECA
RADIAN is a transformative partnership between the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Gilead Sciences dedicated to supporting grassroots organizations tackling the HIV epidemic across Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA).
WHY RADIAN MATTERS
EECA is one of a few regions in the world where new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths are rising. Of the 2.1 million people living with HIV, 41% are not aware of their HIV status and 50% are not receiving treatment – way below global 95-95-95 targets.
To address this growing crisis, we partnered with Gilead Sciences to create RADIAN.
IMPACT TO DATE
Since its launch in 2019 through the end of 2024, RADIAN has supported 43 projects across 14 countries and has had a significant impact on the HIV response. In EECA, together with our local community partners, we have:
- Reached over 310,000 people with essential HIV services
- Provided more than 167,000 HIV tests
- Identified over 12,000 people who are living with HIV
- Linked almost 35,700 people to HIV treatment
- Trained more than 18,000 frontline workers to reduce stigma
In 2024, we announced a $25million five-year extension of RADIAN. This next chapter, RADIAN 2.0, will build on learnings from the first five years, replicate successful models and meet the evolving needs of the most marginalized communities in the region.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Equity Challenge Fund
As part of the RADIAN 2.0 programme, the Elton John AIDS Foundation re-opens the call for grant proposals under the Equity Challenge Fund. This opportunity is aimed at improving HIV outcomes in the most affected locations in EECA by addressing structural drivers of the HIV epidemic.
This opportunity is open until May 19, 2025.

В рамках программы RADIAN 2.0, Фонд Элтона Джона по борьбе со СПИДом снова открывает конкурс грантовых заявок в «Фонд справедливости». Цель этого конкурса – существенно улучшить показатели, связанные с ВИЧ, в наиболее затронутых территориях ВЕЦА путем устранения структурных факторов эпидемии ВИЧ-инфекции.
Этот конкурс является открытым до 19 мая 2025 года.

Innovation Challenge Fund
Under the RADIAN 2.0 program, the Elton John AIDS Foundation calls for grant proposals under the Innovation Challenge Fund. This opportunity is aimed at pioneering ideas which address the HIV epidemic in Eastern Europe and Central Asia – to be piloted, evaluated, documented, and if successful, disseminated and replicated.
This opportunity is open until June 30, 2027.

Цель этого конкурса – поддержать новаторские идеи, направленные на борьбу с эпидемией ВИЧ в Восточной Европе и Центральной Азии: создать условия для их пилотирования, оценки, документирования и, в случае успеха, распространения и тиражирования.
Этот конкурс является открытым до 30 июня 2027 года.
